Broadstone Technology Ltd wants getdarcey.co.uk to be easy for everyone to use, including people with dyslexia, low vision or other disabilities. DARCEY was built by a business owner who is dyslexic, so clear reading matters to us.
What we have done
- We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
- Text uses Atkinson Hyperlegible Next, a typeface designed to be easy to read, at a large size.
- We checked text and background colours for contrast. We do not use colour alone to show meaning.
- There is no italic text and no paragraphs in capital letters.
- We write in plain English, with short sentences.
- You can use the website with a keyboard. A clear outline shows where you are, and a “Skip to content” link takes you past the menu.
- The website works when zoomed up to 200% and on small phone screens.
- Form fields have visible labels, and required fields are marked.
- Images have text descriptions.
Known limits
- The pictures marked “Example” are drawings of the DARCEY app. Their key points are also explained in the text around them.
- We have checked this website ourselves. It has not yet been tested by an independent accessibility expert.
We will keep improving the website. If you find something hard to use, please tell us.
